With our civilization being one of the oldest, we have uncountable monuments and archeological sites in India, off which there are quite a few which are of immense national importance. As a matter of fact the vastness of these sites has compelled the Gov’t to involve the younger students to help upkeep these sites of national importance.
One such occasion was on 16th of September, 2017, when the 12th standard students of The Royal College went to Pokhraj , Barwala, Dehradun, one among the many historical sites of Mahabharata fame, located in the State of Uttarakhand. The location is historically very important as it was here that the Ashwamegh Yagya was held.
Our students went in the morning , swept and cleaned the site for the upkeep. A staff member of The department of Archeological Survey of India explained to the students the significance of the site. After a day’s honourable national service, the team of students returned to school , The Royal College.
